An Integrative, Trauma-Informed & Body-Centered Approach
At Believe In Yourself Counseling INC, I believe healing begins with understanding yourself rather than judging yourself.
My approach integrates evidence-informed, body-centered, cognitive, and relational therapies to help women understand emotional patterns, process difficult experiences, strengthen nervous system regulation, and develop greater self-trust.
I recognize that our thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, relationships, and life experiences are deeply interconnected. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we explore the underlying experiences and protective patterns that may be contributing to how you feel.
Therapy is individualized, collaborative, and guided by your unique history, needs, and goals.
Brainspotting
Processing Experiences Beyond Words
Brainspotting is a brain-body psychotherapy approach that uses specific eye positions and focused awareness to support the processing of trauma, emotional distress, and experiences that may be difficult to express through words alone.
Difficult experiences can leave lasting emotional responses, physical sensations, and deeply held beliefs that influence how we feel and react. Brainspotting helps explore these connections between the brain, body, emotions, and nervous system, creating opportunities for deeper emotional processing.
As a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, I use this approach to support women navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and persistent emotional patterns, while honoring each person’s readiness, comfort, and natural pace of healing.
Somatic Trauma Therapy
Reconnecting Mind and Body
Somatic Trauma Therapy recognizes that stress, trauma, and emotional experiences can influence how we feel and respond within our bodies.
Through gentle body awareness, grounding, and nervous system regulation techniques, we explore patterns of tension, hypervigilance, emotional shutdown, and overwhelm. As a Certified Somatic Trauma Therapist, I help women develop a greater understanding of their body’s responses and cultivate emotional balance, self-awareness, and connection.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) & Parts Work
Understanding Your Inner World
Parts work explores the different aspects of ourselves that develop through life experiences, particularly those that serve protective roles.
You may recognize parts that strive for perfection, avoid conflict, seek approval, maintain control, or protect you from emotional vulnerability. Drawing from Internal Family Systems principles, we approach these patterns with curiosity rather than criticism, helping you understand their origins, recognize unmet emotional needs, and develop greater self-compassion, internal balance, and self-trust.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Understanding Thoughts and Behavioral Patterns
Mindfulness-Based CBT helps identify connections between thoughts, emotions, physical responses, and behaviors.
Together, we explore patterns such as overthinking, self-criticism, perfectionism, negative beliefs, and anxiety-driven reactions. By combining cognitive strategies with present-moment awareness, this approach supports healthier perspectives, emotional flexibility, and the ability to respond to challenges with greater intention rather than automatic reactions.
Attachment-Focused Therapy
Creating Healthier Relationships
Our earliest relationships can influence how we experience emotional safety, trust, vulnerability, boundaries, and connection throughout adulthood.
Attachment-focused therapy helps identify patterns such as people-pleasing, fear of abandonment, emotional withdrawal, hyper-independence, and difficulty expressing personal needs. Together, we explore how these patterns developed and work toward healthier boundaries, more secure relationships, and a stronger sense of emotional safety within yourself.
Inner-Child & Developmental Trauma Work
Understanding and Healing Earlier Emotional Wounds
Childhood experiences can shape our beliefs about ourselves, our relationships, and what we need to do to feel accepted, valued, or safe.
This approach explores the lasting influence of emotional neglect, parentification, criticism, unmet emotional needs, and early responsibilities. By understanding how these experiences contributed to protective patterns, we work toward reducing shame, strengthening self-worth, and developing a more compassionate relationship with the younger parts of yourself.
Nervous System Education & Regulation
Understanding Your Body’s Stress Responses
Our nervous systems continually respond to experiences of stress, uncertainty, safety, and perceived threat.
For women navigating chronic stress or trauma, these responses may contribute to anxiety, hypervigilance, irritability, exhaustion, or emotional shutdown. Through nervous system education, grounding, and individualized regulation strategies, we explore how to recognize these responses, better understand emotional triggers, and develop practical ways to support greater stability and resilience.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Living in Alignment With Your Values
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a more flexible and compassionate relationship with difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
Rather than struggling to eliminate every uncomfortable feeling, ACT helps you develop mindfulness, acceptance, and greater awareness of what matters most to you. Together, we explore patterns of avoidance, fear, and self-limitation while strengthening your ability to make meaningful choices that reflect your values, needs, and personal goals.
EMDR-Informed Trauma Work
Supporting Trauma Awareness & Emotional Processing
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy approach developed to help individuals process distressing memories and trauma-related experiences.
My training in EMDR informs my understanding of trauma responses, emotional processing, stabilization, and the importance of establishing internal resources before engaging in deeper trauma work. I incorporate relevant trauma-informed principles into individualized psychotherapy, emphasizing emotional safety, readiness, and appropriate pacing.
Person-Centered & Compassionate Therapy
A Space to Feel Heard, Understood, and Accepted
I believe the therapeutic relationship is an essential part of meaningful emotional healing.
My approach is warm, collaborative, nonjudgmental, and grounded in genuine curiosity about your experiences. Many women have spent years prioritizing others, minimizing their own needs, or feeling pressure to hold everything together. Therapy offers a supportive space to explore your emotions, strengthen your voice, and develop greater confidence in understanding and advocating for yourself.
Healing That Honors the Whole Person
There is no single right way to heal. I thoughtfully integrate therapeutic approaches based on your emotional, physical, relational, and individual needs.
Some sessions may focus on understanding thoughts and behavioral patterns, while others involve exploring protective parts, attachment experiences, nervous system responses, or processing difficult experiences through Brainspotting and somatic awareness.
Together, we work toward understanding not only what you are experiencing, but also what shaped those experiences, what may have protected you, and what you need moving forward.
Understand yourself. Heal beneath the surface. Believe in yourself.
